Nine Simple Solutions to Boost Your Memory

When individuals are questioned about the most important stuff in their lives, they will normally put their favorite memories near the top of the list. However, as you get older you may notice that your memory is not what it used to be.

The good news is that you can find easy steps you could make in order to strengthen your memory without a whole lot of effort. Eventually, you'll be happy you did them and you will realize that your memory is definitely worth the effort.

Think about seeking the following techniques to enhance your memory:

1 . Repetition. Repetition moves info within your brain from short term to long term memory. Simple, right? So why not use it more often?

* If you are attempting to recall names, repeat the names aloud or scribble them down.

* If you want to remember information, scribble it on flash cards and review them periodically.

2 . Lower your stress level. Long term stress can do some severe harm to your mental health. Stress plays a huge role in your capability to recall things. When you participate in stress relieving activities each day, you will be doing a service to your total health and boost your memory in the process.

3. Avoid rushing. It's tempting to rush through life at a fast pace. But, you are more likely to forget stuff if you're moving too rapidly. If you're in a position where you know you will have to remember information, give yourself proper length of time to process the information.

4. Enjoy puzzles. Try engaging in some kind of puzzle or mind teaser every day. If your brain is used to working, it will continue to do so. When it spends a lot of time being idle, your memory skills will begin to without you even really realizing it.

* Exercising your mind is just as important as exercising the body.

5. Think positively. When you have an optimistic attitude, you are more inclined to achieve great things. There is no exception to this rule when it comes to your memory. If you believe that you have a poor memory, it'll be so. Think positive thoughts, and your memory skills will automatically improve.

6. Stay organized. Make an effort to strengthen your organizational skills. Scribble down reminders for yourself and keep track of data. If your life is disorganized, it is harder to remember things.

7. Get a good night's rest. Your brain needs a certain amount of sleep in order to function properly. Less sleep makes it harder to concentrate and less likely to commit information to long term memory.

8. Improve your health. Enhancing overall health strengthens your memory as well. A good diet and regular exercise maintain your brain function in top shape. Exercise also sends blood to the brain, which helps to keep you alert and active.

9. Avoid distractions. At times you'll discover that you have difficulties remembering stuff because you may have been sidetracked while you were trying to concentrate.

* When people are talking to you, make sure you give your undivided attention.

* When you're working on your computer, keep the Television and other disruptions to a minimum.

Remember to stay organized and actively keep your mental and physical health a top priority, and you'll enjoy a healthy memory for many years to come!
