Many people are stuck in the past and are unable to move on. Knowing how to free myself from emotional pain is something that will cross many minds and it will continue to do so. This is not an overnight process, but if you put in the work, you will find that you will progress and slowly a huge weight will be lifted from your shoulders.

This kind of pain is caused because of past hurts and abuse and it is something which folk hang onto. Some of this is minor, but most of it is traumatic and not easy to let go of. A lot of people really struggle with this, but when a person in unable to forgive, then life becomes difficult to manage.

Not everyone has the same amount of trauma in their lives. Some may remember certain times where they have been severely affected by a parent and others can remember being emotionally abused by a spouse. There are also minimal instances where someone has done you wrong and you are carrying that grudge around, which is killing you inside.

You will need to deal with this before you go ahead and forgive the person, because this is easier said than done. Forgiving will set you free but you need to know how to go about it. You will not be able to forget, so you should be ready for the acceptance phase as well.

Talking to a therapist will help to deal with the pain and heal in many different ways. This should certainly be introduced to someone who has suffered from something like abuse because this is a major tragedy and is traumatic. One needs to know what steps to take, but one must also realize that it is a slow process.

Some people have never been through tragedies and traumatic experiences, and you can see the difference by looking at someone who has. They will be a lot stronger and able to cope in difficult situations and this is the difference. Some people say that this has built them up and this is what they are thankful for.

Once you have been through the healing process, you can look back and know that you are stronger than ever before. You will also feel lighter and less anxious. You will be able to love because there won't be any feelings that prevent you from this. Once you have forgiven someone, you are almost taking the past away, but if you don't it is as if you want to hold onto those negative feelings.

If you don't forgive someone and hold these feelings in, you will begin to suffer with your relationships. Others will find it difficult to communicate with you because it seems that you are constantly engaged in something else. It is possible to enjoy life again once you taken the focus off from these issues. This will be a start to a brand new life.
