Knowing How To Build A Close Relationship With God

By Francis Riggs

It becomes an amazing thing to develop an intimate affiliation on God. It reflects a totally reborn heart because it is just those who are already in Christ desire this. It should be kept in mind that there is no point in the life of Christians will one get close to our Lord as they would wish for. The reason is persistent sinning on the part of human beings. Sin is an obstacle preventing us from achieving complete communion through the Lord. Below is a discussion about how to build a close relationship with God.

The first step to take towards achieving this is making confession a daily habit. He has promised to forgive us once we confess the sins we have committed. It is forgiveness which reinstates any relationship that is or has been on the rocks.

Bear in mind however that confession is more than just saying sorry. It should come from a sincere heart when one recognizes his or her sins offend the All Holy God. It is a confession of someone who understands that it is because of the sins of human beings the Jesus Christ was nailed on the cross to pay for them and every time one sins they nail Him there again.

People have closer moments to Almighty when they listen to Him. Many are still waiting for a supernatural experience of an encounter in God, but Peter says that the Bible is the surest way of listening to God. So people should read it regularly to know what he is speaking.

Prayer is another way too. This is how we speak to God. It is more than just asking God for what we want or need. The Psalms are mostly heartfelt cries of David to God which we can borrow from. There are supplications, thanksgiving, contrition and adoration modeled divinely.

A group of people who you will fellowship with is good also. Spiritual growth comes by means of regularly singing and praying with others. Having such meetings does not only improve your relation in God but also opens an opportunity to worship with the other Christians. Worshiping him together builds a better relationship.

Obeying his commandments makes you a closer child to him. Those who were obedient in the scriptures got rewarded. This means that you will receive his grace and also salvation if you simply obey him. You will get saved when you repent and live according to his will. Obeying God shows that we appreciate his mercies in our lives.

These undertakings seem really simple, simplistic even. But just like we how we go about on developing close relationships through our fellow human beings by conversing with them regularly, pouring our hearts to them, listening to them, sacrificing our needs to satisfy their and seeking forgiveness when we do wrong, this is the same things to be invested and done to get close to our Lord.
