When we go through bad experiences in life, we often feel the need of getting emotional support from our loved ones. However it might be difficult for those people to relate to what you are dealing with particularly when they have not experience it. They might feel sorry for you or blame you for what you are going through and this can result in loneliness and a feeling of rejection. But rape doesnt define me and you don t have to go through it alone, there is group therapy which will support you while you learn to overcome the trial.

Group therapy presents an opportunity to build relationship. Since you will be spending time with other members you need to learn to trust them so that you can talk openly without fear or intimidation. The support offered will help you recovery and see life in a different perspective. Listening to other people s stories will empower to enrich you re your life.

It is beneficial because it offers emotional and oral support. You will also pick up some tips based on how other managed to overcome their person ordeal which can help you develop your own coping mechanism. Knowing that other people survived bad situations and still find the motive to carry one with life should encourage you to keep going.

There are several types of group therapy and they are all designed to tackle different issues. These groups include skills development, cognitive behaviour, interpersonal process, psycho educational and support. They each have something unique to offer to those who are seeking support. The models which separate the groups are effective not just to one problem you might be facing but can help you cope with many more.

Everyone within the group understands exactly what you re feeling and they can relate. Do not be ashamed to express your feelings because talking will help you find peace within yourselves while you inspire others. Whatever problem you re facing you will get through it with each other s support. Keep in mind that everyone is there for the same thing.

There is no age constraint against participants, it is open for everyone. We might not be going through the same problem due to our background or economic status and that does not mean that other people s issues are not important. Joining a group will help you socialised and reduce time spent alone.

Group members are encouraged not to quit participating in the sessions even when they have been attending for a long time. This helps prevents them going back to a dark space of their lives unless they are released by the therapist. Learning from other attendee s stories will empower you and help you make more informed decisions. When you feel better you will be happier and you will do well.

Whether you will be a part of a large or small group, your priority should be getting better. The support you will get from the group is rare to id outside so make the most of it, even when it becomes tough just keep going.
