Understanding The History Behind An Astrological Consultation

By Dorothy Edwards

Astrology is the study of the moon, stars, planet and the alignment based on symbols of the zodiac. While Hindu and Western are most common forms, there are also Chinese and East Asian forms. Whether looking for an Astrological Consultation to obtain a reading or to interpret an existing chart, doing so can often be quite enjoyable.

As most anyone whom has completed an online astrology reading or requested one through email knows, the items requested are birth date, time of birth, location of birth and current date. Once the reader has all this information, there are a number of different ways in which a chart can be developed. For some, it is through an online program. Whereas, there are others whom use a number of different books and other resources to create a neo-natal chart.

By identifying the movement and direction of these celestial bodies, consultants can often locate placement of the planets as related to the individual. In doing so, a reader can learn a great deal about personality traits and aspects that will effecting the individual at the time of the reading and in the future. While, there can often be a great deal of information related to the past, the focus is most often on present and future.

The Hindu aspect of astrology is often considered the starting point of the process. For, a text known as Vedana Jytisha while first believed to be only related to astronomy was later found to have a connection to astrology. As such, the text along with others of the time are the first public texts related to the practice.

In the beginning, the Hellenistic aspects were the earliest known aspects. Since Hindu natal astrology is based on this method, it is often considered the birth point of astrology. In this particular form, readings are based Hindu lunar mansions and Greek zodiac symbols Kriya, Krios and others.

Chinese astrology and astronomy share a close link. For, both focus on the male and female, yin and yang as well as the three harmonies of earth, heaven and man. Whereas, other areas of focus in the form included ten celestial stems, time keeping and twelve earthly branches. As such, while not religious in nature, most are spiritual in one aspect or another.

Unlike more traditional forms of astrology, early Chinese versions were far more political than others. In fact, most early associations with astrology in China were political in nature. As such, whether observation for days, unusual phenomena or identification of portents, all were part of the Chinese form from the earliest days until present time.

In Eastern Asia, constellations and planets are not used as in other forms. For, in that area, there are three enclosures of the sky and twenty eight mansions which are believed to reside within the twelve aspects of Ci. As such, the well known animal signs known in Chinese astrology and the zodiac do not exist in the Eastern Asia forms.

Whatever style a consultant uses, it can often be exciting to compare readings. For example, after seeing a consultant, an individual can do a free online reading. Whereas, others do online readings, then feel the need to see a consultant in order to learn more about the information retrieved.
