Steps For Fulfilling Your Bucket List

By Antoinette Quinn

Life is short and there seems to be too much to do and not enough time. It is important to spend time creating and fulfilling your bucket list, but it may be hard to know how to start. So here are some steps to help get the ball rolling.

First and foremost, take some time and write down any and everything that sounds like something that should be accomplished in this lifetime. It can be anything crazy like singing in a Bollywood film to seeing the great migration in the Serengeti. Or for those who are looking at something a little more low key, how about taking a photo every day for a year, or trying a new recipe each week for a year. The ideas are endless, so start writing down whatever sounds interesting.

After coming up with a long catalogue of must-dos, refine the list by doing a reality check and asking if this is something that is a must and will be forever regretted if not accomplished. If it is easier, go ahead and categorize them into travel, health, relationships, or other areas that are important.

Write them down with pen and paper rather than on the computer. This way there is something tangible around and can be easily accessed. So whenever one needs a little motivation and reminder, simply find look at this and remember what the end goal is. This is a great way to be able to share them as well with friends and family. By talking about it and sharing ideas, you will get more excited about moving on to achieving them.

Start with one of the top goals and figure out how much time and money it will take, and how much time is available to get everything sorted. This can serve as little baby steps to reaching that goal. Also by doing the research, it can get you inspired and excited about it.

Remember though that it is okay if the activities change over the years. Perhaps when the initial ideas was written, one was single with no children, but now there are kids to take into consideration and the pace of life might be different. Adjust and find new goals that are still inspirational and attainable. In the end, the bucket list is about individual growth. There is no penalty if some do not get crossed of, or if others are deleted from the list.

There are also bucket list foundations for those who may have a terminal illness. These organizations help these people fulfill some of their dreams on their bucket lists. It is a simple application process and would be an invaluable experience for all those involved. There are also websites that has other people's dreams, and encourages members to help one another out in fulfilling these goals.

Fulfilling your bucket list is about coming up with the list, writing down the creative activities, and taking steps towards accomplishing them. It may not be an easy step to take, but it will help with growth and it will create unforgettable memories.
