The Uses Of Emergency Survival Gears

By Lelia Hall

Life changes in the twinkle of an eye; it only takes an earth tremor to remind humanity how fragile life is and how unforgiving nature can be. With these factors in mind, humanity should always have a backup plan on and an emergency kit whereby a survival kit is a package of basic tools and supplies prepared in advance as an aid to survive in an emergency. Depending on the situation and the nature of the environment the emergency survival gears differ in both quantity and quality.

One of the general characteristics of a survival gear is that it must be easy to carry and very easy to use, this is because an emergency occurs and at times its only a matter of minutes before the situation is out of control thus the gears must be easily accessible in times of emergency and must also be easy to carry because the situation might require one to run with the gear at hand.

Part of the things that are necessary in an emergency gear unit is a knife, this is because a knife is a versatile tool by nature as it can be used as a weapon in times of danger because its sharp and strong while it can also be used as a cutting tool to chop down vegetables and hunted meat in case of a crisis. The knife can also be used to screw out objects that need to be screwed since in emergencies screwdrivers will be easy to come by.

Fire is also considered to be a very important source of heat in our daily lives but in case of an emergency one cannot easily form a fire without an alternative fire source. This makes the matches very vital in the case of such a crisis because they enable one to start a fire without the hustle that the fore fathers had to go through in order to start the fire.

All gears should also contain some dried foods this is because the dried will not go bad in a short span of time, the dried food mostly consists of nuts and dried grains and cereals, reason being they have high level of energy and can sustain human beings on the sheer minimal in case of a crisis.

Man cannot live on food alone. Part of his necessary diet should include water which is paramount for their existence. Since its a proven fact that man can live for longer periods of time without food but when he or she is starved of water they die faster.

In cases of emergency such as a volcanic eruption, houses are the last place where one wants to be found this is because the house will be the most unsafe place to sleep at that time and in such cases it calls for sleeping outside this requires either a tent or a sleeping bag.

In the survival gears one requires some form of antibiotic, a pain killer and a disinfectant. This are used to try and control a disease in case it arises or an injury in case it occurs.
