Some Simple Mindfulness Training Techniques

By Lena Stephenson

You are always concerned over the fact that you seem to be living life in a way that makes you not present. Yes, you are there when things happen around you, but you just seem to feel detached from the many situations that you are involved in. Sometimes, your thoughts tend to fly off easy too.

You are determined to change this though, you know that if you want to truly live life, then you have to make sure that you actually feel it. Live it. It is reassuring that you can actually achieve these goals through mindfulness training. You just need to employ appropriate techniques to incorporate this with the way you live life.

Understand that you do not necessarily have to undergo a formal training to achieve the results that you are hoping for. This is more on being able to make the right adjustments to the way you are doing things wrong. Then, ensuring too, that you get these cages embedded in the way you live life every day.

The key here of to introduce the many little adjustments that your life currently needs. They do not need to be grand gestures or complicated techniques. All you need to do is make it an effort that the little changes you are doing will be embedded into your life and become a natural part of it.

A good start is to ensure that when you eat, eat consciously. Take the time to savor the food that you are eating, the taste, the the texture of the food in your mouth. You will feel fuller and will eat less in the process too.

You can practice your awareness skills when you have to deal with waiting times too. You often have to wait for your turn when there are things that you need to do like when you shop, you go to bank, or such other things. Use this opportunity to ensure that you get to be more aware of the things that are going on around you.

The way you deal with your emotions should be part of what you must look into too. It is normal for people to flare up, get angry when they are place in situations that are upsetting and not exactly ideal. Use these opportunities to get a better grip if what you are feeling. Then, you won't have to end up saying or doing something you'll regret.

Aim at being kind. Aim at being compassionate. You will be more in the moment when you have compassion for the people that are around. This does not only involve those people that you know or are close to you. Make sure that this includes those whom you do not know as well.

Learn to listen, really listen. Avoid being in a conversation where you are only there to respond. If you want to be really in the moment, then make sure that you really understood what is being said to you.

Do one task at a time. Some people might think that multitasking is the in thing, but truly, it is not. It is only likely to cause you to be unfocused and less efficient as a result. Uni-tasking ensures that you have your attention and full focus on what you are doing, hence, better results.
