Baptist Churches In Chesapeake VA

By Mara Boone

Baptist churches in Chesapeake VA are places of worship just like any other church. They are majorly meant for the spiritual nourishment of the people living in this town as well as those that may be visiting the town.

They usually are located in a series of places in order to cater for people in all the places. Their activities are synchronized such that they do almost the same thing across all the branches. They usually conduct their worship meetings on Sunday. Their sessions normally begin at eight in the morning and end at noon.

As is the culture of many churches, religious festivals are also conducted according to their arrangements in terms of procedure and time. Baptism is done for the new faithful. This is a show of their renewal in Christ and as a show of officially getting rid of their old selves and becoming the chosen people of God. The Holy Communion is also usually conducted in line with the Bible teachings on what Jesus did and instructed to have done every other time in memory of him and the forgiveness of our sins.

The preaching is usually done by the pastors. Occasionally though, they may be conducted by members of the church to whom the duty has been bestowed. The preaching is usually on salvation, repentance, the awesome love of God upon our lives, alongside other inspirational topics from the biblical scriptures. In the preaching, life examples may be given and encouragements derived from them so as to give members to keep holding to their faith.

Though the institutions are branches of a mother church, they at times gather together for fellowship. Their coming together sometimes is dictated by festivals. They may fellowship in one place during ceremonies such as the Holy Communion, or when conducting baptism for the new members. The common gatherings are also held when celebrating their anniversary.

The churches are usually very large buildings. They have adequate seats for all people that may come to worship in them. They are well decorated from the outside and appear very beautiful. Unlike some other institutions, these churches are well fences with a security guard at the gate to watch over the property of the church. The grass within the compound is also ever trimmed and kept short to make the compound attractive and presentable.

When going to church, the dressing code is well defined by the church policies using the bible. All the Christians are required to dress decently and modestly. The ladies are discouraged from dressing in clothes males and sticking to their own and vice versa. For the choir members, a uniform agreed upon is selected and worn in occasions where uniformity needs to be observed. Baptismal candidates also dress in purely white clothes as dictated by the culture of the institutions.

Baptist churches in Chesapeake VA not only preach for salvation, but also participate in other activities. Among them is charity work such as voluntarily cleaning the environment, visiting and giving charitable donations to children homes, visiting prisoners to encourage them and make them feel loved and cared for, visiting the sick in the hospitals and even those in homes to encourage them and even help them out of their beds. As such, the institutions aim at modeling the members in all dimensions.
