Those who have served for a long time may choose to retire early on and collect benefits and pay.

Some individuals join just for an experience. Most service people get to travel and might even take up residence at a military station in another country. This allows for exposure to new things and cultures. The work done while enlisted may be applied in other jobs as well.

These are not the only reasons for enlisting. Some do this to keep with family tradition. Others are interested in just giving back. Camaraderie may be a reason for certain individuals. In fact, there are a lot of people who end up finding close friends and spouses while they are enlisted. There might be many different reasons to join the military. Every person signs up for his or her own purpose. Sometimes this is a career move or to get a better education. Other times it is about the stable benefits and money that come with military involvement.
