A Few Conversations With Jesus Would Surprise Many People

By Gloria Mason

Jesus, while he walked the earth, had a large drawing among the people. Some followed him wherever he went and listened to him raptly. Those that were able to get close enough were able to have conversations with Jesus and what they learned could be used today. This information has been, largely, ignored in this modern world and studying his word has taken a back seat to other things.

The political world would be as divided as the political world then was. Many of the ideas that politicians think about would not conform to the what would Jesus do mentality that some propose they follow. They are mixed up as to what is the right thing and just talking to each other would bring the same responses they had during that first few decades of AD.

A very delicate decision by a visitor around Jesus would be the questions around the purposes of war. Some would think they are going to bring up the fact that there were a lot of wars in the Old Testament. They would, of course, be missing the point as these were undertaken during a time that people were not living in the grace that he represents.

Gun control would likely be a subject many would bring up to him. Yes, he said that blessed are the peace makers, however, he did not discourage his followers from carrying the weapons of the day. He was also not a fan of unnecessary violence balanced against the need to defend oneself.

Abortion is another topic that people think is fine for them. They have not read, apparently, the statement he made about knowing people while they were still in the womb. These people would have all believe that his words are not modern and he did not have any of the same pressures they have today. Just reading, with comprehension, some of his words would show the love and compassion he has for all.

There are a lot of people who have been under the impression that if they had the chance they would really give it to Jesus about all this stuff he has said. They are not aware of the fact that the nature of men and women, down through all of the ages, has not changed and he has seen it all. They could no more give a lecture to the Son of God than they could change the way the earth revolves around the sun.

The basic assumptions about what would Jesus do about or in any of the situations in which anyone finds themselves will have proven to be wrong. The surprises would come not because they have not been voiced before but because the passion for which they are adhered to, by him, is impressive. The very soundness of his statements would hold people in awe of his ability to understand what they are going through and get right to the core of their beliefs and misunderstandings.

The very many conversations with Jesus that people think they would do is offered to others only because a face to face is not possible. They know that they would have to actually think about their lives and what they have done with them This would not settle well for them and they know they fall far short of what is expected of them.
