How To Organize Before A Meeting In Alcoholics Anonymous

By Christopher Snyder

Alcoholics anonymous are an international friendship and fellowship of women and men who have a dangerous drinking problem. This group is non professional, apolitical, multiracial, self supporting and available mostly everywhere especially in western countries. The assembly does not require a person to meet a certain age or educational attainment in order to become a member. The meeting is open to anyone that wants to do something about their problems in regards to drinking alcohol. When it comes to leaving aa, individuals who have drinking problems must not think twice in participating with the group to relive themselves of this addiction.

For individuals to prepare for the meetings, they must understand the purpose and characters of AA. This group or session will help people who have problems in drinking. They will assist them to stay sober in order to achieve sobriety. This group does not recruit members but instead welcome them to be a part of the group.

Ask a few people who are also participating in groups for recommendations. This is the surest way to get a hold of the group and its members. Individuals can learn firsthand the improvements made by the assembly towards their members. Talk to the individuals that participated in events to learn which type of meeting is the right one for you.

When attending the first session, try to find a buddy. If there is someone who can accompany or a person who is close to you and a member of the particular group, tell them to stay close. It is important to feel comfortable especially when its your first time. Participating in the sessions will take courage and perseverance.

The meetings are not being governed by one person. No one is considered as the leader. But instead, everyone can talk and make topic during the group assembly. The only leader is a chairperson who will take the lead. The assembly will be started by people who have already spent some time in the AA for years.

The open and closed type is for anybody who has the addiction but the discussions are strictly for members only. Some members do not follow the groups distinction and participants does not fully understand the methods. Newcomers will always be welcomed to participate as well.

If the event or assembly is useful to your cause, then attend it again. If the structure is comfortable to a person, they can participate again the next time. It would take some time to be comfortable so do not give up easily. Take the time to feel at ease and share your personal thoughts with everyone.

Get referrals from your loved ones and friends. They may have already undergone the whole process before and they can share their experiences and knowledge about the procedure. They can offer some valuable insights for your cause.

Price will not be a problem or hindrance when participating in the group. This does not require any finances. However, every member can still contribute a few amount of money to spend for their assembly and other improvements needed. They can also ask for a local contribution from other people.
