Practice The Art Of Covert Hypnosis

By George Turner

Young and old people often wish that they could learn the art of covert hypnosis. Some teenage students sit in classrooms staring intently at a teacher. They appear to be listening but may actually by wishing that they could influence the teacher to suddenly begin undressing, to the delight of the class. Instances of bizarre human behavior do exist but of course they may not be attributed to their real causes, which may or may not be hypnosis.

When viewed from fifty years of hindsight films from the Second World War era might seem to depict a whole nation behaving extraordinarily. People strut about, responding to signs and sounds in what seems to be an irrational manner. They cheer en mass and on cue when a demagogue addresses them and refer to him as though he is a god. Irrationally, intelligent people express hatred of others who were their countrymen a few months earlier. A nation seems to have been hypnotized.

Though there are many instances if inexplicable human behavior not all can be explained in terms of hypnosis. There are distinctions. A flock of chickens may act in panic when a fox enters their house but the chicken which is laid on the floor with its eyes directed at a spot will remain motionless because it is in a hypnotic state. Its behavior is induced by specific techniques.

Books and training materials are available online enabling one who is determined to learn the arts of covert hypnosis. Because success means power over individuals those who acquire the art also acquire the power to do good or evil. Hypnosis used in medical practice and police work is willingly shared but that used for nefarious purposes might be less well publicized.

Although intense study and application will be necessary to achieve results some general principles might be advanced as pointers for those who wish to learn the art of covert hypnosis. Cooperation, or rapport, is very important. In public performances people who are called up consent o be hypnotized. Their voluntary collaboration is an important prerequisite.

There will be many witnesses to the collaboration when a volunteer steps forward at a public performance but none in the case of covert hypnosis. This makes it more powerful and more dangerous in some ways. If collaboration is acquired insidiously, without the knowledge of the subject he or she is extremely vulnerable.

Some written texts have the quality of emulating life so accurately that readers willingly suspend their disbelief and imagine that they are experiencing real life. Similarly, for covert hypnosis to succeed a subject needs to set aside his critical powers and enter a mental state like a lamb to the slaughter, as it were.

If a strong rapport exists between two people one may spout banalities, platitudes and truisms and a perfectly intelligent person may remain uncritical. For example, a perfectly intelligent person may fall victim to flattery if it is cunningly applied. A woman who is proud of her family may become oblivious to subterfuge on hearing the phrase 'lovely children'. The final phase in covert hypnosis is to issue the commands that the subject is required to perform. Aspirant hypnotists need to reflect and study this phase carefully. If they go too fast their cover could be blown. If they are too tentative they might fail to achieve their aim.
