By Donna Robinson

Believers who move to new places find it overwhelming to settle on a place of worship that meets their expectations. The first choices that they consider are based on the denomination that the previous places they were used to. However, new believers and those who are not associated with any denomination need to look for a new clerical. Below are a few guidelines for selecting Baptist Church Coward that one should consider.

Consider the basis that the place is built on. You expect a worship place to be based on four main aspects. First, they should acknowledge the Bible as their main reference material. Besides that, their preaching and teaching are supposed to be based on the Bible, have sound doctrine and practice biblical ordinances as well. These components should be outlined in their core values, objectives and goals that they have established.

Check the soundness of their doctrine. There are a couple of aspects that make a church doctrine to be sound. They should have a firm stand on the birth, bodily resurrection, salvation and second coming of Christ. You also expect them to have a strong emphasis on the salvation by grace and through faith alone. Finally, they should practice ordinances such as baptism and communion.

Take note of their programs. Every member of a church congregation should be part of a ministry or program. These ministries include evangelism, ushering, worship, youth, men, Sunday school, and fellowship. These ministries must be well governed to meet their objectives and ensure that every member feels like part of them.

Assess its governance. The growth of a clerical is based on its governance. A suitable place should have an executive committee which oversees the management of the church funds and activities. The pastoral team should maintain their services as servants of their congregation and should be actively involved in their activities. Such hierarchy might change depending on the denomination that the place of worship is affiliated to.

Consider their attitude towards a newcomer. You should feel welcomed and comfortable as a newcomer based on the attitude you receive from the congregation. They should get to know you and level of commitment and allow you to make your own decision related to serving in different ministries. Besides that, they should guide you through their membership classes which are supposed to be carried out voluntarily.

Acknowledge their level of worship. The congregation should be active participants in the worship process. There should be a sense of holiness in the worship and should include the use of equipment as well. Communion should also be held on a frequent basis as another way of worship.

Acknowledge the kind of amenities that the place has. You need to check whether there are reliable amenities in the place you intend to join to guarantee your comfort. Take note of aspects such as the parking and church size, the number and arrangement of the seats among others.
